Issachar Initiative

The OneStory Partnership is now recognized as one of the Count for Zero Organizations by The Issachar Initiative. It is very natural to have OneStory and Issachar partner together. Issachar has a strong focus on reaching the unreached, which is what OneStory has always been about. We are excited to be a part of the larger community of believers with whom God has put this vision in their hearts. We want to be connected with all those who are about God’s vision for Unreached People Groups (UPGs). This is one more step at getting the Body of Christ being just that, a well functioning body, each part doing what God made them to be. OneStory wants to do what it can to be a blessing to our brothers and sisters in this effort.

The story of Issachar begins at the Billy Graham Conference on Evangelism in Amsterdam in the fall of 2000 when a group of ministry leaders were part of the Strategy Sessions. As they discussed how to reach Unreached People Groups (UPGs), they asked one another what they could do to help finish reaching all the remaining UPG’s. In the course of their conversations, they realized that they could achieve some goals more effectively by working together more closely. They agreed to begin working to that end immediately. This group has become known as “Table 71,” after the table number where the partners held their original discussions.

The Table 71 organizations that have agreed to work together as are totally and deeply committed to evangelism and world missions. As Paul proclaimed, “We are not ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ because it is the power of God unto salvation.” (Romans 1) The goal is to establish a strong and viable church within each UPG, so that the number of UPGs is reduced to ZERO.

The Issachar Initiative exists to serve the Church by raising Awareness (bringing vision and clarity of the unfinished work of the Great Commission) and by providing Trusted Information (a reliable source of aggregated date) that leads to increased Mobilization of workers and resources to the places where the Church is not.

Count for Zero Organizations is a resource to help inform Kingdom investors whom God is drawing into His work among the UUPGs. Evangelical ministries and mission organizations (both domestically and internationally) are being invited to self-vet their projects and initiatives against three established criteria, and commit to being a Count for Zero organization.
